Fog Dreaming Burst Indigenous Print and Crinkle Leather Shoulder Bag - Large

Regular price $149.00

A beautiful and limited hand crafted shoulder bag with a vibrant hand screen print artwork by Aboriginal artist Marita Sambono of Merrepen Arts. The fabric was hand screen-printed by Publisher Textiles in Leichhardt.  The rest stitched together by myself!

I love the movement in Marita's print, and each bag is quite different as it shows a different section of the amazing print. This one highlights the circular pattern of her print.

The grey leather as a crisp, crinkly feel to it giving the bag a lovely feel.

Some info on the artwork (from

Dagum, Fog dreaming sites are located on Ngen’giwumirri country between Peppimenarti and Nauiyu. They are small springs and holes in the ground where steam or fog come off the warm water below. They occur on the edge of floodplains and are surrounded by spring pandanus, yerrgi, and pink apple trees, yerrmanmanba. The fog wafts around these trees and is conspicuous during the cold weather of the mid dry season, especially in the cool of the early morning. These sites have special spiritual significance for Ngen’giwumirri people, especially for Marita as it was one of her deceased grandmother’s dreamings, and they are found on her traditional country. This image shows the warm water springs and holes that the fog comes from, it captures the movement of the fog and the spiritual danger associated with coming into physical contact with the fog.

The strap is hand-cut leather, with grey leather back and  top-stitched detail. Blue Silk lining with handy inner leather pocket.  Adorned with a quality YKK metal zipper.

Size: 31cm x 25cm  (Design may vary slightly)
